Our beloved Dalen Christopher Risby was born July 21st, 1997. On the early morning of August 31st, 2015 his life was violently taken from him. He was shot 4 times and died shortly afterwards during surgery at Skyline Hospital.
Dalen graduated with the Senior class of 2015 from Stratford High School in Nashville, TN. He turned 18 years old July 21st, 2015 and started school at Nashville State Community College to study Culinary Arts in August of 2015. His life was taken less than a week after his first college class. He was so excited to start college to fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming a chef. His plans were to first become a cook on a cruise ship granting him the opportunity to travel the world. He one day planned to open his own restaurant. Ever since he was a little boy, he always knew he wanted to cook. He was gifted and took pride in the meals he prepared. Not only was he gifted in the kitchen, but he was also gifted in touching the lives of others. After he passed our family, pastors, former teachers, principals, peers and close friends shared so many stories of how sweet, friendly, funny, uplifting and encouraging Dalen was. He was a brilliant and talented young man with a huge heart and hunger for life. None of us understand why or how someone would take the life of such a precious person who had such a positive effect on an entire community.
Almost 2 years ago our family created this website in hopes of raising money to reward anyone who came forward with information regarding Dalen's murder. It is with great relief that we are able to update our community with good news. Someone has been charged with his murder and is behind bars. We asked for your continued prayers and support as we continue the process of making sure his killer(s) will be put away for good. We will continue to post updates here at JusticeForDalen.weebly.com.
There are no words to explain how much losing our Dalen hurts. He was the sweetheart of our family who will be forever loved, forever missed, and never forgotten. We are all remaining prayerful and trusting God to walk us through this process of seeking justice for Dalen. Thank you for taking the time out to visit JusticeForDalen.weebly.com and for your continued prayers and support for our family.
God Bless,
